If the anticipation of this weekend upcoming Bank Holiday wasn’t enough it also happens to be the last fixture in the Cartmel Races diary.
The weather is up to its old tricks – changing daily, full of uncertainty yet with almost certainty of some rain during the weekend. Hey, it’s the norm for the UK and we’re all used to it aren’t we let’s face it, and nothing a glass of Champagne can’t cure.
But rain never, ever dampens the crowd, the expectation or the participants of Cartmel Races. Every race fixture is a full house, gets bigger and better each time with higher profile jockey’s and horses and more and more exhibitors.
The August Bank Holiday fixtures are made up of two days. Firstly Saturday 29th and the Cartmel Cup. Entertainment from 10am with racing at 2.05pm and 5.30pm, a huge funfair in the course enclosure and definitely a date for the whole family. A day off then there’s racing again on Bank Holiday Monday at 2.15pm and 5.45pm. This is the final day of the season at Cartmel Races and the Bank Holiday Celebration Hurdle sponsored by William Hill is the highest class event to be held at Cartmel, a very befitting end to another highly successful season at this very special racing circuit in the Cumbrian countryside. Full race and fixture details can be found here, http://cartmel-racecourse.co.uk/.
Last minute accommodation can be found via The Lakeland Cottage Company who supply high quality holiday cottages in the Cartmel area. Visit https://www.lakeland-cottage-company.co.uk for more details on both 7 night and short break stays or call 015395 38180.
You’re always spoilt for choice in cartel with fab pubs such as the Cavendish Arms and the Royal Oak onto restaurants such as Rogan’s or if you’re really wanting to push the boat out L’Enclume (although you may have missed the boat for a booking this coming weekend at L’Enclume!).
